The director James Wan created something special with these movies. There isn't much gore, or far-fetched unimaginable scenes. The Conjuring 2 holds its own on good old fashion scares. 

The Conjuring 2 centers on  married paranormal researchers Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) Warren, who lecture at colleges across the US. Unlike the first film, this one is set in England. The build, suspense  and anticipation  is perfectly aligned to deliver the ultimate scare. The Conjuring evokes some unexpected emotions too.

The love between the Warrens for one. There is a lovely scene including an Elvis track!

All-in-all The Conjuring two is a horror hit!
